I’ve always been a nurse. I just had to get licensed to be able to legally practice!
Born and raised in a suburb of Richmond, Virginia, I left home to study nursing at Clemson University 🐾.
I gained a solid education and a southern drawl.
I worked clinically for 17 years before I began work as a LNC. My LNC career was not well thought out. In fact, I did not plan it at all. I was en route to a fabulous California vacation when my flight was delayed. Per usual, I immediately struck up a conversation with the stranger sitting next to me.
Turned out, that impulse would start me off in my LNC career. That stranger was a nurse paralegal (another term for LNC) who gave me my first LNC gig!
Lesson 1: Talking to strangers is not always dangerous.;)
Lesson 2: You never know when opportunity is knocking. You just have to open the door.
After I reviewed my first case as a clinical RN expert, I was hooked!. Initially, I worked as a subcontractor learning the ropes from a veteran LNC. That contractor gave me the LNC education I needed to be successful. I went on to build a national legal nurse consultancy.
I now find myself in a position where I can help RNs figure this LNC stuff out. How to actually WORK as an LNC. RNs need help learning how to be LNCs just like an RN transitioning from the floor to OR needs help. So, I created Legal Nurse Logic - COACH to do just that.
